Ferrals
This peaceful and remarkably well proportioned and well kept home is after more than two years of restoration a magnificent and beautifully decorated house. This is thanks to the owners, Michele and Michel, the former an antiques dealer and the latter an advertising CEO.
The main house next door was a Monastery many centuries ago. The building is now two separated residences, and Ferrals house stands on its own.
Even though it's located right in the centre of a charming and peaceful village of Corbieres, as soon as one passes through the iron gate, you feel transported into another world for the length of your stay. A holiday in Ferrals will let you experience what the oft-used words peace and quiet really mean.
Set amid a large expanses of lawn, tall trees and with pool chairs, table, hammock, and a small pond filled with fish, the totally private swimming pool awaits your party's visit.
The House
The property is accessed through imposing an iron gate framed by a massive stone wall. The swimming pool and a garden terrace area are private and provide a nice retreat on a hot day.
Ferrals has four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Three of the bedrooms have queen size beds, the fourth has a king size bed. With three additional sofa beds the house can accomodate eleven guests.

The Region
The region is renowned for grape growing, the wine produced is known worldwide as Corbieres. It's a very full red wine, fruity and nutty, with a liquorice taste at times. Corbieres is mostly produced from Merlot and Shiraz.
Wine makers in this region produce some excellent white wines such as Dry Muscat and Viognier.
The Cathars' invasion as well as the Pilgrims on their way to St Jacques de Compostelle in Spain during medieval times both left a strong heritage that we can still see and enjoy today. Monasteries, churches, and castles, abound.
The proximity of the seaside, for fish and shellfish, as well as low mountainous areas, where cows, sheep, pigs are raised, are the basis of some outstanding local dishes not to be found elsewhere. Needless to say restaurants, cafes, bistros, abound in this part of France.
Situated between Carcassonne and Perpignan the town of Tautavel, forty kilometres to the west, has an exhibition of more than three hundred fossils gathered from all over Europe, shown for the first time to the public and spanning a period of approximately two million years. A ride on the Canal du Midi, one of the world's heritage sites, is also a must. Boats along the Canal can be boarded from many villages along its shores.
